Re: UKIP political Earthquake on its way.........
UKIP couldn't hang on to one of their 2 seats, they couldn't win the easy one they put Farge up for and ploughed all their monery into it.

Just out of hand, the UKIP person that stood in my seat didn't even actually live here, nor did the Green unlike the holding Tory and the challengers from Labour and Liberals and both got smashed to bits by the main two.

Re: UKIP political Earthquake on its way.........
There's no argument to be had here. How can you argue with people who think that 1.5 million votes should be 56 times more influential than 4 million votes. It's self-evidently unreflective of the voter's wishes, and that's the acid test for any democracy.

It's absolutely right.

In fact it's perfect - they thought they's break the system and it chewed them up and spat them out.

Re: UKIP political Earthquake on its way.........
It's madness that UKIP gets 3.8m votes Vs SNP 1.4m

UKIP get 1 seat whilst SNP get 56 . That cannot be right.

seat numbers are not reflecting the mood

Out electoral system and this issue has been in place for centuries. Interesting that you're only just noticing.

Snp won almost every town in an entire country. Ukip came third in the majority of towns in theirs, you don't get anything for coming third, nor should you.

look at the actual votes

you sound like an editor at the guardian or at the beeb

people know what really happened and seat numbers are not reflecting the mood - and you know it

Over 4 million UK voters cant be wrong.

That doesn't make any sense, the majority of last night's voters of all parties bar one, were wrong as it happens.

Farage talked SOME SENSE in the debate I saw...

Re: UKIP political Earthquake on its way.........
facts are UKIP more votes than SNP and LibDems added together

vitually from a one man band

that's not a blip

you've probably just witnessed the most remarkable piece of electoral shift, from a bloke in the pub,

he embraced a massive silent posse who were being called racist a few years back, simply by asking basic questions on immigration

so well done the left

tory majoity = shift to the right

ukip's massive total vote = rubber stamping of right wing superiority

let the people speak or they will fuck you up

suck it up, lefty cunts

Re: UKIP political Earthquake on its way.........
Leaving aside the fairness of our voting system, what is the excuse for Farage not taking Thanet? He was leader of his party he had a clear run and yet he couldn't win the seat, that has nothing to do with PR or anything else, just a failure on him and his party no excuses.

You could say that UKIP have the whole of the UK to contest and the SNP only a very small fraction of the seats in comparison..

Simple stuff really

UKIP failed in their objective plain and simple no matter which ever way anyone wants to spin it.

Whether you like the system or not, the system is the system, we had the chance to change it, ok not to PR but change it nether the less and we voted not to and they started with TWO seats and LOST one of those and couldn't get their leader elected despite the massive effort, hell even Miliband and Clegg won.

As I said earlier they were not the ones that really damaged Labour or the Liberals.

People jumped on the Farage bandwagon because he talked a good game on issue people care about and it will be interesting to see what happens now with him gone.

Hammer and Pickle 9:03 Fri May 8
Re: UKIP political Earthquake on its way.........
Yes.

It convinced constituents to vote for it. The labour candidates were not so convincing.

Get over it - it's called politics.

Re: UKIP political Earthquake on its way.........
I'm only going by what he said on this thread, you should take it up with him on the relevant thread really.

I hardly ever post on political threads because it's all a load of bollocks, Labour isn't the same party that me or my family grew up supporting, I think, there's a huge disenfranchised group of voters out there now

Re: UKIP political Earthquake on its way.........
Poland Rat, does the SNP, with about half the votes cast for it compared to UKIP, deserve fifty five more seats at Westminster?

Hammer and Pickle 8:56 Fri May 8
Re: UKIP political Earthquake on its way.........
Oh dear, the platitudes spring forth so easily.

In what way do they deserve a seat when they can't convince more voters than another candidate ?

It's not about "fairness" and "deserving", it's about concrete policies, concrete people and concrete constituencies.
